FHS Lady Bulldogs Win 6th Consecutive State Golf Title

bulldoggolf.pngThe Fayetteville High School Lady Bulldog golf team won its sixth consecutive state championship yesterday in Cabot. Congratulations to team members Katie Bucknam, Jessi Cadle, Shelby Daniels, Alex Del Sol, Olivia Lavy, Micah Radler, and coach Scott Williams.

The Lady Bulldogs have now won 11 golf championships since 1973, the most of any high school in Arkansas!

Senator Lincoln to visit Washington Elementary

U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln will visit Washington Elementary on Monday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m.  Senator Lincoln will learn about the school's Farm to School program and other wellness programs taking place at the school.  These programs will include the development of a school community garden and our after school program titled Creative Cats.

Creative Cats is a partnership with the Washington P.T.O. and Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club. Some of the course offerings for Creative Cats are a Healthy Choices Cooking Class and a Yoga class. 

Flu Shot Clinics Scheduled

192 FHS Students Named AP Scholars

ap1.png192 students from Fayetteville High School have been named AP Scholars by College Board's Advanced Placement program in reocgnition of their exceptional achievement on AP exams. 85 were named Scholars, 45 Scholars with Honor,  62 Scholars with Distinction and 12 were National Scholars.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students' performance on AP Exams.  At Fayetteville High School, twelve students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five point scale on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.  These students are: Mathias Bellaiche, Sue Breden, Pete Brooks, Benjamin Caffrey, Benjamin Costrell, Rose Courteau, Zoe Curlee-Strauss, Kate Ivey, Yibo Jia, Christopher Tucker, Annie Wang and California Wang.

PSAT Sign-up Ends on Monday, Sept. 20

PSAT.pngThe PSAT exam will be given at FHS on October 13. Final sign-up to take this exam will be held on Monday, September 20 from 7:45 til 8:15 am and 12:08 to 12:54 pm in the Bulldog Lobby. The cost to take the exam is $20.

FHS vs. Jonesboro Kickoff Set for 7 pm

Bulldog Purple head.pngThe kickoff for the Fayetteville vs. Jonesboro football game tonight (September 17) is 7 pm at Harmon Field. The change to 7 pm is to accommodate Jonesboro's travel plans. 

12 FHS Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

NatlMeritLogo.pngCongratulations to the twelve Fayetteville High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship competition. Those seniors named are Ella Caraway, Jill Del Sol, Sarah Howell, Renwick Hudson, Olivia Kline, William McComas, Ashton McCombs, Sarah Plavcan, Margaret Schweiger, Stephen Soerens, Jonathan Wang, and Keegan Whicker.

These students will have the opportunity to compete for 8,400 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $36 million, that will be offered next spring.

Sign Dedication to Honor Former Classmates

Bulldog Purple head.pngThe Fayetteville High School senior class will hold a sign dedication on Friday, September 17 at 6: 45 pm at Harmon Field to honor Forrest Turner and Beau Spencer. All seniors are being asked to participate in this event, and t-shirts are being sold for $10 to wear to the event. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will be used to help pay for the sign and to donate to the foundations created to honor the two students.

2010 Hall of Honor Events Set

HOH_Logo.pngThe 2010 inductees to the Fayetteville Schools Hall of Honor are Dennis Kelly (FHS Class of '75), Dr. Peter Jenkins (FHS Class of '58), and Judy Gregson Schwab (former educator). Support the FHS Teen Cancer Challenge

From September 7 thru September 24, Fayetteville High School is participating in the Teen Cancer Challenge. We will be competing against Bentonville High School to see who can raise the most money for teens affected by cancer.

We are asking everyone at FHS and in Fayetteville to donate and support this important cause. Visit the Teen Cancer Challenge website at

FHS Dance Team to Host Lil' Dawg Clinic on Sept. 11

Bulldog Purple head.pngThe Fayetteville High School Dance Team will be hosting a Lil' Dawg Dance Clinic on Saturday, September 11th in the FHS Bulldog gym from 1:00 - 3:30pm.  Participants will perform prior to the first home football game on Friday, September 17th.  The cost is $35.00 and participants will receive a t-shirt and ribbon.  Check for registration forms in your child's take home folder, in your elementary school office, or e-mail becky.williams@fayar.net for a registration form.
