shakeout.pngWe live in the New Madrid Seismic Zone.  200 years ago, a great earthquake occurred in the Central United States.  So, on April 28, 2011 at 10:15 in the morning, Root Elementary School will participate in the Great Central U.S. Shake Out.  The Shake Out is an earthquake drill.  There are going to be eleven states taking part.  It is fun, safe, and important.  The Shake Out practice will prevent injuries such as broken bones.  So, in the next few weeks, we will be learning about what to do if an earthquake occurs.  An earthquake and aftershocks can kill thousands of people.  If we do what the Shake Out tells us to do, we can cut the deaths and injuries that occur.  If we follow the instructions we can make a difference.  The Great Shake out is a Great Deal!
