FHS Bulldog Cheer Clinic on January 14

cheer.pngKindergarten through 6th grade students are invited to attend the Fayetteville High School Bulldog Cheer Clinic on Saturday, January 14 in the FHS Bulldog Gym.

PRICE: $35.00 per child, $50.00 for two children in the same family.
Price includes a performance t-shirt. All proceeds go directly to the FHS Cheer program. Click here for the registration form.

The Bulldog mascots will be available for pictures with participants before and after the clinic. There will also be former FHS cheer uniforms available for purchase at the clinic.

Free Great to Skate Event at Jones Center on Jan. 21

NSM_horiz_color.pngAs part of National Skating Month, the "It's Great to Skate" event will be held on Saturday, January 21 from 9 am to 1:30 pm at the Jones Center in Springdale. This event is FREE to the public.

Help Support FHS Lit Mag by Dining at Panera Bread Co.

connotations2010.pngYou can help support Connotations, Fayetteville High School's national award-winning student literary magazine by dining at Panera Bread at 3638 N. Front St. on Thursday, December 15 from 5 pm to 8 pm. 10% of the sales during that time will be donated to Connotations. There will also be a raffle for a David Yurman bracelet and a bread for a year during the event. Connotations staff members will also be reading from their works during the fund raiser.

Eat at Zaxby's on Tuesday and Help the FPS Safety Net

MP900438692.pngOn Tuesday, December 13 you can help the FPS Safety Net program by eating at Zaxby's Restaurant at 3251 North College in Fayetteville from 4 pm to 8 pm. 10% of the sales received during that time will be donated to the FPS Safety Net, which helps students in need in the Fayetteville Public Schools.

Don't Miss the Celebration of the Football State Championship

STATE CHAMPS.pngThere will be a celebration of the FHS Bulldogs 2011 football state championship on Tuesday, December 13 at the Fayetteville Town Center from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Mayor Jordan and others will speak shortly after 5:30 pm. There will also be a DJ and light refreshments, and the championship game video will be playing on a big screen.

State championship t-shirts will be available for sale, as well as DVD copies of the championship game video.

All fans are invited to stop by to join the celebration and congratulate the team!

14 FPS Teachers Achieve National Certification

nbpts-logo-tm.pngFourteen FPS teachers have achieved national certification from National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. They are Andrew Chance, Christy Dugger, Jessica Garrett, Rebecca Green, Deborah Harris, Boyd Logan, Wendy McCain, Michelle Miller, Olivia Murphy, Jennifer Reich, Cheryl Sewell, Karen Stowe-Rains, Anita Ulrich, and Lesli Zeagler.

FPS now has 46 nationally-certified teachers. Congratulations to the new members of the group!

FHS Bulldogs Win 7A State Football Championship!

Crowned Bulldog.pngCongratulations to the FHS Bulldogs for winning the 2011 Class 7A State Football Championship in dramatic fashion in Little Rock on Saturday, December 3 in War Memorial Stadium! A two-point conversion in overtime won the game for the Bulldogs over the defending state champions, Bentonville High School.

Details about upcoming celebrations of the championship will be forthcoming!

FHS Debate Enjoying Success in Fall Tournaments

FHS-Debate.pngThe FHS varsity policy debate team of Aaron Gibson and Taylor Shelton won first place at the North Little Rock Charging Wildcat Debate/Forensics Tournament held December 2-3, 2011.  Other Varsity Debate winners were Tim Dahms and Austin Ross 2nd Place, Ty Dunn and Matthew Wang, 4th Place.  Gibson and Shelton were also Varsity Debate Speaker finalists.  Winners in Novice Policy Debate were Mitchell Fenex and Adam Ferrior 3rd Place, Avery Edge and Ava Shirley 4th Place. 

FHS Debate/Forensics Coach, Tim Hollis, notes, "FHS Varsity Debaters have won 1st and 2nd Place at every debate tournament this year:  Little Rock Central, Bentonville, Rogers Heritage and North Little Rock."  

Winners in other events at North Little Rock were Brenna Collins, Ashley Cunningham, Cassie Lime, and Courtney Ulrich--Finalists in Readers Theatre.  Advancing to semifinals [top 12] in their events were Cassie Lime in Solo Acting, Courtney Ulrich in Storytelling, Taylor Hogue in Extemporaneous Speaking, Ashley Cunningham and Courtney Ulrich in Poetry Interpretation, Carson Griggs and Taylor Hogue in Improvised Duet Acting, and Ty Beringer and Courtney Ulrich in Duet Acting.

December 16-17, FHS will host its annual "Winter Wonderland" Forensics Festival for high schools around the state.  Competition will be held for all Arkansas Communication and Theatre Arts Association events:  Debate, Readers Theatre, Words & Music; Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking, Improvised Duet Acting, Duet Acting, Solo Acting, Mime, Poetry, Prose, Storytelling, Humorous/Dramatic Interpretation.  The public is welcome to attend at no charge.  

FHS' Debate/Forensics team will compete again January 13-14 at Little Rock Parkview.

FHS Homeless Vigil Needs Your Help
