- LIGHTS OUT: Fayetteville High School will play its last basketball games in the old FHS Gym on Friday, February 24 against Springdale High School. The old gym will be demolished during Spring Break, and the new gymnasium (located on the southwest corner of the campus) will be ready for the 2012-13 season.
All varsity and junior varsity games will be played in the main gym on February 24. The auxiliary gym will be used to accommodate the crowd, and the TV broadcast of the girls and boys varsity games will be shown on big screens in the auxiliary gym.
The game schedule will be:
- 4 pm: Jr. Varsity Girls
- 5 pm: Jr. Varsity Boys
- 6:15 pm: Varsity Girls
- 7:45 pm: Varsity Boys
"We anticipate an overflow crowd," said athletic director Barry Gebhart, "and we encourage fans to get there early."
After the conclusion of the boys varsity game, a brief ceremony will be held to commemorate the last games, followed by a reception in the auxiliary gym.
"We want to invite all former Bulldog players, coaches, principals, administrators, cheerleaders, dance team members, managers, and anyone else who feels a connection to Bulldog basketball to join us on Friday night," said Gebhart. "It promises to be a very special night."
