5 FHS Debaters Qualify for National Competition

FHS-Debate.pngFive FHS students have qualified to compete in the 2012 National Speech and Debate Tournament--the world's largest academic event-- that will be held in Indianapolis in June 10-15. The students are:

  • Janna Allen - Duo Interpretation and Original Oratory
  • Ashley Cunningham - Duo Interpretation
  • Aaron Gibson - Policy Debate
  • Taylor Shelton - Policy Debate
  • Morgan Vesper - Dramatic Interpretation
FHS had the most qualifiers from Arkansas. This is the largest number of FHS students to qualify for Nationals.

  • Aaron Gibson and Taylor Shelton - 1st Place, Policy Debate
  • Janna Allen - 1st Place, Original Oratory
  • Janna Allen and Ashley Cunningham - 1st Place, Duo Interpretation
  • Morgan Vesper - 1st Place, Dramatic Interpretation
  • Taylor Hogue - 2nd Place, U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Ty Dunn - 3rd Place, International Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Tim Dahms and Austin Ross - 3rd Place, Policy Debate [1st Alternate to Nationals]
  • Tim Dahms - 2012 Arkansas NFL Student of the Year
  • FHS was 1st Arkansas NFL Sweeps
