FHS Teacher Receives Yale Educator Award

MimH2.pngFHS world language teacher Mim Heinrichs is a recipient of the 2013 Yale Educator Award. The Yale Educator Recognition Program honors outstanding educators from around the world who support and inspire their students to perform at high levels and achieve excellence. Heinrichs was one of only 52 teachers selected for the 2013 award.


McNair Principal Wins National Award

Michelle Hayward.pngCongratulations to McNair Middle School principal Michelle Hayward for being named the 2013 recipient of the Distinguished Educator Award from the Association for Middle Level Education! She will formally accept her award at the association's annual meeting in Minneapolis in November.

Internet Safety Awareness Week

Internetsafety.pngThroughout the year all children in the Fayetteville Public Schools are taught the importance of responsible use of internet resources. The second week of September has come to be known as "Internet Safety Awareness Week" during which digital citizenship and internet safety are explicitly taught in our libraries, technology labs, and a variety of core curriculum. We encourage all parents to work with us and take  time to discuss internet safety with your children. Tips for parents of children of all ages can be found here at the Internet Safety Project.

FHS Phase I Awarded LEED Silver Certification

FHSPhase1.pngThe U.S. Green Building Council has approved a LEED Silver certification for Phase 1 of the Fayetteville High School Transformation project, according to John Coleman of Viridian USA, the company that worked on the application for the school district.

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. FHS is the third school in the district with LEED certification, after Butterfield Trail Elementary and Happy Hollow Elementary Schools.
