FPS Receives 5 National School PR Awards

nspra_logo_0.pngThe National School Public Relations Association has presented five awards to the Fayetteville Public Schools as part of NSPRA's 2015 Awards program. FPS was given awards for the following:

Eight FPS Schools Receive Performance Reward Checks

performancechkj.pngEight FPS schools received monetary awards given earlier this year through the Arkansas School Recognition Program. The Arkansas School Recognition Program was created to provide financial rewards to public schools that experience high student performance, student academic growth, and high graduation rate in secondary schools. The eight FPS schools received a total of more than $369,000 in performance rewards.

FPS Schools receiving the awards include:

  • Butterfield Trail Elementary: $55,191.55
  • Happy Hollow Elementary: $21,769.35
  • Holt Middle School: $25,952.13
  • Leverett Elementary: $30,361.49
  • McNair Middle School: $62,800.09
  • Root Elementary: $43,928.31
  • Vandergriff Elementary: $59,605.92
  • Woodland Jr. High: 69,747.29

Kristen Scott Named Principal at Root Elementary School

Kristen Scott.pngKristen Scott has been named the principal at Root Elementary School effective July 1. She is currently the principal at The Owl Creek School, where she has served since 2009. She joined the school district in 2002 as classroom teacher and has since served as a Federal programs coordinator and professional development coordinator. She has ten years experience as a classroom teacher and also served as a math fellow.

She received her bachelor's degree in English literature, a master's degree in secondary education, and an Educational Specialist's degree in curriculum and instruction, all from the University of Arkansas. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction.

Free Lunch This Summer for Kids 18 and Younger

student-lunch.pngAll kids age 18 and younger can have lunch for free every weekday this summer at Holt Middle School. No fee--it's free! No application, and no registration. Just come hungry!

Lunch is served Monday thru Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunches will be available beginning Monday, June 8 and ending Friday, July 31. No meals will be served June 29 - July 3.

Holt Middle School is located at 2365 North Rupple Road.
