Rosenaur Named Outstanding Alum of UA College of Education

Rosenaur-blog.jpgCongratulations to Warren Rosenaur, director of theatre at FHS and managing director of the FHS Performing Arts Center, for being named the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Alumni in Education Award from the University of Arkansas College of Education & Health Professions! Warren will be formally recognized at commencement on May 14.

FHS Computer Science Students Place at Coding Competition

Saturday our Computer Science students competed at the University of Arkansas in coding against over  thirty other teams including Arkansas School of Math and Science, Bentonville, Springdale, Rogers, Rogers New Tech High, Southside, Alma,  and others. Below are the results.
1st Place                Arkansas School Math, Science, and the Arts.
2nd Place               Fayetteville High School
3rd Place               Arkansas School Math, Science, and the Arts
4th Place               Fayetteville High School
5th Place               Arkansas School Math, Science, and the Arts.

FHS Robotics Team Wins at Arkansas VEX State Robotics Championship

The FHS Robotics Team 7187 won the top Design Award at the March 5 Arkansas VEX State Robotics Championships - (left to right) Ethan Favorite, Nauman Malik, Spencer Main and Michael Delery. The team's faculty adviser is Randal Dickinson. The Design Award is presented to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management, and team organization. The team must have an Engineering Notebook that is a clear, concise document of the team's design process. The team must be able to explain their design and strategy; demonstrate personnel, time and resource management; and show teamwork, interview quality and team professionalism.


FHS TV Wins National Awards

The TV and Film programs fared well at the 2016 Student Television Network national convention. FHS TV won an honorable mention as the 4th best broadcast morning show in the country. The TV and Film programs combined to win a Gold Award from ESE Networks for their website. 

School Choice Information for the 2016-17 School Year

saturday_school.pngAct 580 of 2015 allows parents to apply for admission for their child to attend a school in any district beyond the one in which the parent resides. Any parent residing outside the Fayetteville School District that desires to send their child to the Fayetteville School District beginning with the 2016-17 school year may obtain an application in the superintendent's office located at 1000 Bulldog Blvd.

If a student seeks to attend a school in a non-resident district for the 2016-17 school year, the student's parent must submit an application to the non-resident district with a copy to the resident district. The application must be submitted on the form approved by the Arkansas Department of Education. The application must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2016.

Applications do not have to be resubmitted for students currently attending Fayetteville School District schools under the School Choice Act.
