FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--The Fayetteville Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the hiring of Dondi Frisinger as the principal of Happy Hollow Elementary School, effective July 1, 2016.
"We are excited to welcome an educational leader of Mrs. Frisinger's caliber to our school district," said incoming superintendent Dr. Matthew Wendt. "She brings a wealth of experience and a great passion for teaching. Happy Hollow Elementary will continue to flourish under her leadership."
Mrs. Frisinger is currently the principal at Walker Elementary School in Springdale, a position she has held since 2001. She will replace current Happy Hollow principal Sharon Pepple, who is retiring on June 30.
"I am excited to join the Happy Hollow family and the Fayetteville team," said Frisinger. "It's my understanding that Sharon Pepple and the Happy Hollow faculty have established a strong, student-centered learning culture. I know I have "big" shoes to fill, and I look forward to the journey."
Mrs. Frisinger earned a bachelor's in elementary education from Missouri Southern State College in 1989, a master's in educational administration from the University of Arkansas in 1996, and a Certification in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas in 1998. She also completed the Superintendency Program of Study from Harding University in 2009.
Prior to serving as the principal at Walker Elementary, Mrs. Frisinger served as assistant principal at George Elementary in Springdale and taught for eight years in the Rogers Public Schools.
She was named the Arkansas Principal of the Year and National Distinguished Principal in 2014, and she was named the Rogers Elementary Teacher of the Year in 1995.
