Flu Shots Available for All FPS Students and Staff

sick.pngFlu shots will be available for all students and staff in the Fayetteville Public Schools from November 5-9, based on the following schedule:

Tuesday, November 6:
Washington Elementary, 7:30 am, Gym
Root Elementary, 10:30 am, Gym

Wednesday, November 7:

Each student must return a completed, signed permission form before an immunization will be administered. There is no charge for the immunization.

Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet on September 29

drugs.pngOn Saturday, September 29 you can safely clean out your medicine cabinet and eliminate the risk of your kids doing it for you. More than 60% of teens believe that prescription drugs are easy to get from their parents' medicine cabinets. Operation Fall Cleaning provides the opportunity to safely dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications and over the counter medications.

ATEN to Broadcast FHS Student Films

studentselects12.pngThree films by FHS students will be showcased in "Student Selects: A Young Filmmakers Showcase 2012" airing on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) on Friday, September 28, at 9 pm.

"Student Selects" is an annual event that highlights the creativity and talent of the state's kindergarten through 12th grade students. "Student Selects" offers young filmmakers the opportunity to submit their film and video handiwork for possible broadcast on AETN, streaming at www.aetn.org, and screening at the Little Rock Film Festival.

"Colors in White," the story of a young woman struggling to overcome a life-changing tragedy, was the top film at the 2012 competition. FHS students Emily Webb, Jack Carroll and Harrison Smith won scholarships for screenwriting, cinematography and editing, respectively, for this film. Click here to see "Colors in White."

Films to be featured on September 28 include:

"The Kings in Winter," Fayetteville High School - Wildlife around the Kings River is the focus of this nature documentary.

"Mother," Fayetteville High School - This film features otherworldly stop motion animation.

"The Easy Life of Mr. Rosenaur," Fayetteville High School - A short documentary follows the drama instructor at Fayetteville High School.

Practice PSAT Exam on Sept. 23; Exam set for Oct. 17

taking_test.pngA practice PSAT test will be held Sunday, September 23, from 1:00-3:45 in the FHS Commons. Students must pre-register on the College/Career website for this free practice test. Access the College/Career website for more information about the PSAT.

The PSAT test will be held on Wednesday, October 17. All sophomores will be tested with no fee. Juniors may register October 8-12 in the Counseling Office. The fee for juniors is $20.

FHS Phase I to be Dedicated on September 14

FHSPhase1.pngPhase I of the Fayetteville High School Transformation Project will be formally dedicated on Friday, September 14. Tours of the new facilities in Phase I will begin at 4 pm and will be led by members of the FHS Dawg Crew. The dedication ceremony will begin at 5 pm in the new Bulldog Arena, and the keynote speaker will be Gov. Mike Beebe. A reception in the FHS Commons will follow the ceremony and will include entertainment by the FHS Orchestra.

FHS Lil' Dawg Dance Clinic on September 8

dance.pngThe FHS Dance Team will host the Lil' Dawg Dance Clinic on Saturday, September 8 in the new FHS Bulldog Arena from 1:30 to 3:30 for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The students will perform what they learn at the clinic at the FHS football game on Friday, September 14 at Harmon Field.

Cost is $35 per child, and $50 for two children in the same family. The price includes a performance t-shirt and an FHS ribbon. There will also be a selection of old FHS Dance uniforms and poms for sale.

FHS Bulldogs to Play in Hooten's Classic at Razorback Stadium

Bulldog Purple head.pngThe Fayetteville Bulldogs will play Memphis University School on Thursday, August 30 at 8:00 pm at Razorback Stadium. The game is the second of the Hooten's Classic that night. Tickets are $10 and are good for either or both games.

Because the game is part of the Hooten's Classic, the ONLY pass being accepted is the Arkansas Activities Association pass. No other pass or season ticket will work. This includes: FPS District passes, season tickets, Athlete passes, Super passes, Golden Age pass, etc.

Those attending the game are strongly encouraged to buy tickets from the FHS Football Booster Club. For information about how to purchase tickets please call 251.7040.

FHS Sophomore Football Team to Host Pancake Breakfast

pancakes.pngThe FHS Sophomore Football team is hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, August 25 from 8 am to 11 am in the FHS Commons. Cost is $5 and includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee and juices. Come support your football team and have a great breakfast!
