Elementary Re-Enrollment Week, August 2-6

enrollment.pngRe-enrollment will take place in all elementary schools in the Fayetteville Public Schools prior to the start of school. Asbell & Happy Hollow have completed their re-enrollment, and all other Fayetteville elementary schools will hold re-enrollment August 2-6. This includes all kindergarten through fifth grade students, either returning or new.

The dates and re-enrollment are:

Monday, August 2, 8 am - 4 pm
Tuesday, August 3, 8 am - 4 pm
Wednesday, August 4, 8 am - 4 pm
Thursday, August 5, 8 am - 6 pm
Friday, August 6, 8 am - Noon


ALL students must re-enroll and provide proof of residence (utility bill or rental agreement).

The purpose of re-enrollment is to make certain we have accurate information on every students, particularly in the event of an emergency. We greatly appreciate your cooperation!

Take the Sustainability Education Survey

The Stribling Sustainability Institute is seeking community input on education for sustainability to assist with the development of outreach activities and new credit and non-credit courses for students and businesses.  The surveys below will be open until September 17th to allow ample time for community members to complete them.  The first link is to a survey designed for workers in our community, and those recently employed.  The second survey is specifically for high school, college and graduate students studying in our area.

Voter Registration Deadline August 23

vote.jpgMake sure you are registered to vote in the September 21 school election. The deadline to register is Monday, August 23. You may also pick up a voter registration form at our administrative offices at 1000 W. Stone Street.

Early voting will begin in the Washington County Clerk's office on Tuesday, September 14. Office hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Preseason Soccer Skills Camp, August 9-12

Monday, August 9 thru Thursday, August 12
6 pm to 8 pm
Asbell Soccer Fields


Younger soccer players, ages 5-11 (both boys & girls), can brush up on their soccer skills at this camps before they begin the fall soccer season. The staff will be made up of the 2010 state champion FHS Lady Bulldog soccer coaching staff and players and will focus on the technical development of players, including dribbling, passing and receiving, shooting and finishing, and overall comfort of possessing the ball. Players will end the week with a small tournament within their age group.

Board Votes to Approve Phase 2 Financing Plan

fhs-view-small.pngThe Fayetteville Board of Education voted 7-0 to approve the administration's recommendation that Phase 2 of the Fayetteville High School transformation project be financed with $31,460,000 in zero-interest bonds and $19,540,000 in traditional bonds. To pay for the bonds, the district will ask for a 2.75 mill increase request be placed on the September 21 school election ballot.

Chief financial officer Dr. Lisa Morstad noted that the use of the zero-interest bonds and a financing plan will allow the district to save $29,000,000 in costs on the project. She added that the zero-interest bonds will mature in approximately fifteen years, instead of the traditional 30 years.

Architects Jim French and Marlon Blackwell explained the floorplan of Phase 2 to the Board, which will include almostly exclusively academic spaces.

FHS Grad Named UA Sturgis Fellow

UA_Logo_large.pngFHS graduate Mathias Belliache has been named one of five Sturgis Fellows for 2010 by the University of Arkansas. Belliache graduated from FHS in May.
