Five FHS Students Receive Perfect ACT Score

Speaking of ACT scores, there are currently FIVE students enrolled at FHS who made a score of 36, the highest score possible, on the ACT exam: Kyle Jiang, Ryan Kim, Meagan Olsen, Albert Xu, and Emily Jackson! Emily is a sophomore, and the rest are juniors at FHS.

Ramay Students Capture Second Place in Technology Challenge

Ramay Junior High School students placed second in the 2009 Razorback Technology Challenge held Wednesday, December 9th on the University of Arkansas' Fayetteville campus. The competition, sponsored by the University of Arkansas College of Engineering and the College of Education and Health Professions, is held on the second Wednesday of December and draws students from the four-state area. More than 560 students participated this year.

Leverett Elementary Students Win GAC Youth Poster Contest

Fifth graders Heather Osburne and Kambre Whisenhunt won first place and third place respectively, in the Great Arkansas Cleanup Youth Poster Contest, sponsored by Keep Arkansas Beautiful and the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.  John Pope, Vice Chairman of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission, presented the students with awards in Leverett's library.  The purpose of the contest was to involve students, increase awareness and to educate the public that litter and using illegal dumping sites have a harmful effect on the environment and Arkansas' quality of life.


breakin3.pngCheck out the Thanksgiving episode of Breakin' the Leash, a show by FHS Advanced Television students which covers issues of interest to teens.  Students leave the television lab to research and interview people in the community to create multi-dimensional projects.

FHS Students Receive Commendations from National Merit

taking_test.pngFour FHS students have been named Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are Jordan Burns, Birch Griesse, Quinn Kelly and Jonathan Weed.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition.

GED Graduate Wins State Scholarship

Ayadi.pngAdil Ayadi, a GED graduate from Fayetteville Adult and Community Education, was awarded the Luther H. Black Scholarship on October 1, 2008. This prestigious award is given each year to one Arkansas High School Diploma (GED) graduate who demonstrates outstanding leadership, citizenship, and professional promise. Recipients are awarded $l000 per year and can be renewed up to four years to help with costs of higher education.
